Tagged by rkowhore79 . . .

* 1. Post these rules.
* 2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about their self on their journal.
* 3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people (take if you want)
* 4. No tag-backs.

Oh joy . . . this ought to be interesting, trying to come up with eight things about myself that don't make me sound batshit insane or hopelessly boring!  Damn it, I like being all mysterious and shit . . . -mutters and pouts and does the friggin' meme anyway, cos rkowhore79 feeds my Jeff Hardy addiction with her picspams and I don't wanna piss her off- ;-p

1.  My nickname at work is the Evil Overlord.  I even have a sign that says so on my desk.

2.  It also says people can just call me "Mistress" - no one ever does.  EVen when I have my leather flogger and handcuffs on display.  I can't get no respect! ;-)

3. I started writing my "Adventures with the circus" series of stories in 2004.  My OC Vivvie was introduced in the very first sentence of the first of these stories (Stand Back! There's a Hurricane coming thorough!) as dealing with a draft contract.  Fast forward two and a half years - I've moved to a completely new state, in a move I never expected to make, and left the job I was doing when I started writing wrestling fan fiction.  And my new job?  Contracts manager.  That kind of makes me wonder when I can expect to change occupations again to become a computer game designer, or a pyrotechnician, or a female wrestler!!  It's officially spooky.

4.  I am a sucker for plot bunnies - the bloody things breed in my head.  In addition to the four stories I am currently actively writing, all of which still have multiple chapters to be written, there's one more that's only just been started, but I have an outline for, and another on the launching pad.

5. (really starting to scrape for ideas now - yes I am that boring)  I live only a few kilometres from the ocean, and I never go swimming in it.  But smelling it on the breeze is guaranteed to lift my spirits, no matter how blue I might be feeling.  The Pacific Ocean rocks.  One of the things on my bucket list (you know, the list of things you want to do before you kick the bucket) is to go to California and see the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, since I can't do that in Australia.  I just like the idea of being able to see both sides, you know?

6.  My Ya Ya name is Princess Weeping Cloud.  I stole the name of Bob Threadgood's wife from the movie Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, which is not quite as good as Steel Magnolias, but is getting up there.

7.  I cannot live without my music - at current count, I have over 3700 songs on my WMP, and I'm adding new ones all the time.  I especially love getting recommendations from people of songs, particularly from artists I've not listened to before.  I love broadening my musical horizons!

8.  I've had five surgeries in my life, and I'm facing the sixth in 11 days time.  It's potentially more serious and complicated than any of the previous ones, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worrying about it.  So I hope everyone will forgive me if I'm not around as much, or posting as much.  You guys are the best for lifting my spirits and giving me something good to focus on, and I'm very thankful for that right now.

And I'm not tagging anyone - because rkowhore79 has probably tagged most of my flist anyway.  If she hasn't tagged you, feel free to go on and do it anyway!

Hiya - you have no idea who I am, but I found your journal the other night via wwegirls (to be precise, I noticed your journal because of a certain photo of the Undertaker you posted on there a little while back, that kinda grabbed my attention!) And then I found you had a fic page, and then I, er, kinda forgot to go to bed on Thursday night cos I was reading everything on there. So, yeah, awesome stuff. Do you mind if I friend you, please? :)

To actually reply to this post, meanwhile: re your point seven, I love music too and am always happy to share recs/songs (as long as you like goth and metal, which is what I mostly do!) Give me a shout if you're interested!

And re your point eight, *hugs* and everything crossed for you! Hope it goes well and you recover nice and quick!

Well howdy!

to be precise, I noticed your journal because of a certain photo of the Undertaker you posted on there a little while back, that kinda grabbed my attention!

Now, I wonder if that was 'Taker at Afflition, looking sexy as fuck, or the pic from the new WWE magazine, where he was looking sexy as fuck with the added attraction of hints of BDSM? -grins-

Don't matter either way - they were both utterly droolworthy!

And you've even read my fic? Wow - that's a lot of reading! But I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Have you then found the fic in progress here on my journal? ;-)

Friend away - always happy to make new friends!

Musically, I'm really eclectic. I'm not a real fan of heavy metal - the head banging stuff, I mean. Metal that remains lyrical and melodic - bring it on! I'm always happy to sample new stuff - if I like it, great, if I don't,well, no harm done, right?

And thanks for the well wishes ;-)

Both are awesome, but the one that made me come up choke-chain short was the BDSM one, I have to confess. That gave me... all kinds of interesting mental images. >.>

Loved the fic, yeah. I have to confess I'm first and foremost a slash fan, always have been, but I love your stuff because there's something... comfortingly well-written about it. It really shines through that you're writing to make yourself happy and I enjoy that. I like how believable all your minor details feel, too - do you do a huge lot of research for your writing? I'm definitely watching all the WIPs to see what's going to happen next!

Music... hmm... I reckon I might try and coax you over into Power Metal a little then... try out these:

Sonata Arctica's "Fullmoon"
Nightwish's "Wish I Had An Angel" (this one is great songfic material, heheh...)
Within Temptation's "Mother Earth"
Gamma Ray's "Send Me a Sign"

Hope you find something to like in there! ^_^

Oh, I totally understand where you're coming from there!! ;-)

And wow thanks so much for what you said about my fic!! That just about made my day, to hear you enumerate the things I'm proudest of in my work as what you enjoyed the most!

I do research pretty extensively when I write, yes - there is nothing worse for me than to read a fic and come up against something tha "clunks" because I know it's dead wrong factually. That completely kills a fic dead for me.

I'm not as compulsive about it as some people I know (I need to know how to build a nuclear reactor, because my characters are going to drive past one -snerks-) but I do think if you're going to put your charas forward as experts at something, you better know a little bit about it first!

The WIPs are . . . coming along! Helps to have a few going at once - if I get stuck on one, I can usually work at another one until I get unstuck!

Now, about these music recommendations . . . wow!

I loved Sonata Artica, that's exactly the kind of thing I mean when I say lyrical and melodic. I'll be checking out more of their stuff for sure.

Nightwish? That particular track didn't really do much for me, and I have to say I think it was the lead singer. I've heard a lot of people rave about female fronted metal, and Nightwish, but for that song, her voice just seemed too "thin" for the music.

"Bye Bye Beautiful" was better though!

Within Temptation blew me away - I'm definitely checking out more of their stuff. It just rocked - I love symphonic music, and they did that beautifully. And they're female fronted as well, but her voice just seems to work better with their music.

And hey, Amy Lee, which Evanescence isn't metal, is one of my favourite singers.

Gamma Ray was good too, but the first three really were the standouts for me. Gamma Ray sort of reminds me of Led Zep's early stuff, for some reason.

Yay for new music!! Thankies!!

Heheh. Actually, sadist that I am, one picture that crossed my mind involved a wide-eyed and quivering Edge strapped into that chair, with 'Taker looming over him with one of those shiny sharp toys off the wall ready in hand... (I adore Edge, for the record, even though he's been such a bastard - not to mention pussywhipped, dammit - of late. But I love seeing him scared cos he just plays it so well... *g*)

And yeah, I know what you mean about factual accuracy - it's like in movies, where I sometimes spot the stupidest little thing and go "hey, that's all wrong!" cos it just happens to be something I know about. I try to either do my research or, if I can't for any reason, just dodge the technicalities when I write... >.>

Glad you liked the music, too - personally I'm far more into male vocals than female as a rule, Nightwish and WT are just bands I'm willing to make an exception for. ;) Sonata Arctica are my faves of those three though, their stuff is just so soaringly beautiful without ever sacrificing real power and I love that in metal. \m/

So yeah, you're welcome! I'll see what else I can find you. :)
